FAQ

What is Hexham Holiday Club?

Hexham Holiday Club is a week long programme of fun, informative and action-packed faith based events and activities for children of all ages. It has been a part of Hexham Summer holidays since 1970 and is run by volunteers from Churches Together in Hexham.

Do I need to come to church to attend?

No, everyone is welcome.

Will my child be pressured into Christian beliefs?

In Hexham? We think not. You probably know half the 'team' already. We're in this for the long haul, so rather than an intense week of pressure (although it is for the 'team') it will be a fun week where children get to know each other, a little bit about the Bible and hopefully get a chance to find out how much God loves them.

Who is on the team?

All the 'team' are volunteers, most of whom come from Hexham churches. All 'team' members have been DBS cleared.

Does it cost anything to attend?

All activities during Holiday Club week are free of charge, although there are opportunities to give a donation.

Do parents need to attend?

For 'Storytime', we ask an adult to stay with any child 3 years and under. For all other age-group activities (Going into Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Years 4 & 5) that take place in the mornings, you may leave your child(ren) at the relevant venue from 10.30am. We also ask that you return to collect your child(ren) promptly at 12.30pm each lunchtime. You will need to inform us if somebody else is coming to collect your child(ren), and also provide an emergency contact, preferably a mobile telephone number.

For the Zone (Going into Years 6, 7 or 8) at West End, pick up is optional, but you will need to inform us in advance if you are not picking up and your child is walking home.

In the evenings, for 'Nightshift' (13yrs+), we expect that many of the young people will be unaccompanied.

Do I need to register?

Every child attending Holiday Club has to be registered. This helps us in terms of staffing, health and safety, dietary needs etc. You can register in advance by using the online registration form. Registering your child(ren) in advance is our preferred option as it helps us plan and organise effectively, as well as helping you avoid a possible delay (or worse still, disappointment) on the first morning your child(ren) attends Holiday Club.

What about special needs?

We do all we can to accommodate everybody. Please note on registration forms any special needs your child(ren) might have, or email us early with particular requests.

Will Holiday Club be running next year?

Yes, Hexham Holiday Club has been running each summer since 1970.
